This is one of my favorite flowers. Just the one flower, the center and the leaf, but it adds that tropical touch. If you don't have a die cutting machine that will work, just print the shape on the back of your paper and cut by hand. As always the size of the shapes are not the size used for the layout - Choose your own size to suit your layout.

- Oct 04, 2020 Season 46 Episode 1. The production values are so spot-on here it's easy to forget that the sketch was made in the middle of the pandemic (well, except for the whole mask thing, of course).

As promised, here is my layout example for this sketch. I really love these flowers because they make fantastic layered flowers without any effort. For close ups and details visit my blog HERE.
Look at this beautiful layout using the light blues of the Magic Kingdom castle. Thank you to Michelle for this great sketch example. Visit Michelle's blog HERE.
Ok I have to admit that one of the reasons I love this sketch is that you get to see a bunch of patterned papers. LOL! Check this one out! Merrick sent me this page and I am in love with those WRMK papers! Visit Merrick's blog HERE.
This is a great boy page from Joni Parker. The papers are busy but totally work when used with this sketch because there is a bit of seperation. Great job, Joni! Visit Joni's Blog HERE

Jeanne sent me this adorable little boy page and I just love the way she punched the bottoms of the strips of paper. Thanks Jeanne!!!!
I know I have posted alot of examples for this one but you just have to see this one from Angela. These photos are amazing on their own, but the papers are perfect. Visit Angela's blog here

Sketches are usually defined as quick, rough, and unfinished studies of composition and color as practice for larger work. But I've been working on these as ends in themselves and embracing them as standalone symbols of a daily creative practice.

I consider them poems—not novels, melodies—not full songs.
They're all inventions, not copied photographs or plein air paintings. They're essentially an adaptation of the musical practice of variations on a theme Fs 1 6 1 – note manager duties. and working on many simultaneously feels like I'm following a melody as it moves through varied arrangements. They've redefined my studio practice by helping to conjure a creative flow without pressure or weight and have become the basis of my SCLA workshops.

*NOTE: These sketches are mostly small scale works on paper that are painted with big shapes and broad ideas in mind rather than detail and intricate nuance. They are all scanned at 1200 dpi so the digital image you're looking at on screen is super hi-definition and much closer than you'd ever stand looking at this or any piece of art. I'd suggest standing a few feet away from your screen to get a more accurate feel for what it might look like hanging in your space.
